The house is quiet, presents are wrapped, my new baby is in her swing dozing off, the kitties and doggy are playing with new toys they got for Christmas. My husband is figuring out how to put something on my car that he got me for Christmas, and holiday music is playing in the background. Life is good.
Yet, I still find myself getting cranky at little things that bother me throughout the day. The laundry hasn’t been done and it feels like the end of the world! Why do I feel this way?!
I’d like to say that feeling this way is completely normal, ESPECIALLY if you are just a few weeks postpartum. It can definitely feel overwhelming, especially with all the holiday craze happening around you.
Although these little things bother me, I have to remind myself day in and day out that they really are just little things. The laundry will still be there tomorrow, but will I ever get to spend my first daughter’s first Christmas with her ever again? NO! Right now, it’s all about soaking in the soft and sweet moments, and reminding myself that those daily chores aren’t so important.
What’s important in this moment is the love I have for my family. It’s sometimes difficult to look at the laundry and think about all the mushy-gushy, but it’s important to remember that laundry is forever, but this day with your loved ones is not.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas or are having a great holiday season, and I hope that you can remember to take a step back from your daily doings to appreciate the most important things in your life! Who knows, maybe the most important thing to you IS laundry. Whatever it may be, I hope you love it hard and with all of your heart!
Cheers
Natalie
